Painting #1 progress
I planned on doing only grass in the background but it made the painting look flat (image 1) so i decided to add the small rocks from the original reference photo. As of now, the setting is done (image 2) and I’ll hopefully be moving on to the fur details after adding more dimension on the dog in general.
I agree that grass can look flat if the background was just grass, but you add a lot of dimension to your grass by adding shadows and light. The rocks in the background are beautifully painted and make the painting more complex next to the flowers.
